The Doctor Blade has mainly two functions:-
To regulate the amount of toner available on the magnetic
developer roller, and help tribioelectrically charge
the toner so that it properly develops the image on
the OPC drum. Their surface finish, hardness and dimentional
accuracy are all critical to proper functioning
The main function of the PCR
is to charge the OPC by breaking down the
air gap formed in the nip areas of both
sides of the PCR.The PCR rolls on the OPC
surface to transfer the charge to the OPC
surface. PCR applies a uniform negative
charge (-600V to -720V DC) on the surface
of the drum. If this charge is not uniform
and even, toner is attracted to the desired
areas of the drum. A poorly charged drum
can streak or background shade.
The Develloper roller
is the crucial link in the imaging
system since it brings toner to the
drum so an image can be transferred
to the page. If the developer roller
is not replaced when worn or damaged
cartridges may show light print,
backgrounding, or heavy banding.
